Earlier this year, I posted a blog about PECO’s newly defined leadership traits and our first Leadership Week event. Our team has continued to embrace the Four A’s of PECO Leadership (Authenticity, Acumen, Action and Agility) through a variety of learning and development opportunities such as monthly discussion groups and leadership panels and associate communications including our intranet and monthly newsletter.

Striking the right work-life balance can be challenging, especially as a working parent. I have written before that the correct balance is not based on any magic formula or a 50-50 ratio. What matters is finding a balance that is right for you and your family. There is a lot of expert advice available from books and articles, but what I appreciate more is learning from people that I trust and respect. So, I asked a few leaders how they handle work-life balance. Here’s what they had to say:
 

Amber Roberts is the definition of fit. While many may know that she is the leader of Phillips Edison’s daily lunch workouts at the Cincinnati office, many do not know that she also stays fit by managing her own farm. She calls it equally wonderful and demanding, and a big reason for her to stay as physically capable as possible. Throughout the four years that Amber has been with Phillips Edison, she has continued to motivate the team with her workouts, willingness to help, and her great attitude. You’ve probably heard of the golden rule: treat others as you would like to be treated. But are you familiar with the platinum rule? It is to treat others as they would like to be treated.

That being said, no two individuals are the same. Each leader and emerging leader must play to his or her strengths while continuously looking to grow in areas where they might not be as strong.

From a young age, Josh had a zest for real estate and property management sparked from his father’s investment lessons. It’s almost ICSC RECon time, when professionals from across the retail real estate world descend on Las Vegas in the industry’s version of the Super Bowl. One of the biggest challenges of this great networking event – other than sore feet – is trying to find enough time to connect with everyone you want to see during your short 3 or 4 days in Las Vegas. Most people end up extending the day by meeting for drinks or appetizers after the daytime deal making end. But with so many choices, it’s difficult to know exactly where to take that post-game party.
