in  PECO Culture

“Think big and act small.”  “Do the right thing.”  These are two of Phillips Edison & Company’s four core values.  Developed with input from PECO associates, these simple statements reflect PECO’s culture and guide our team as we make decisions and operate the company.  We believe in working together, acting with a small company mentality and accomplishing big things.  We also believe in doing what’s right, and part of that philosophy is giving back to the community. A natural result of these closely-held values is our PECO Community Partnership Program.

An associate-led initiative, PECO Community Partnership is dedicated to encouraging and facilitating community involvement and connecting team members with causes that are important to them.  The group organizes quarterly office-wide volunteer events designed to encourage interdepartmental interaction and camaraderie while giving back to the community.  They also promote a variety of charitable activities related to specific associate interests throughout the year.

The Partnership’s most recent project was a half day of service at Gorman Heritage Farm near our Cincinnati, Ohio office.  The company encouraged all associates to participate by granting a half day away from the office, and providing lunch and refreshments.  More than 80 associates gave approximately 240 hours of community service during the event, helping to remove brush, replace fencing and more.  They made a significant impact at a valuable community resource, had fun and made a difference.  Beyond that, they also built on our company culture of teamwork and connection.  Working together outside of the office on a common goal of doing good is a powerful way to build rapport, and enhance communication and cross-functional collaboration throughout the organization.

Our team and our company’s success is founded on community – our internal family and the larger world around us.  Phillips Edison supports PECO Community Partnership and the associates who run it because it’s who we are.  We back up our culture and our values by giving our team time and resources to give back to the neighborhoods in which we live and work, and by helping associates support the causes that are important to them. We think big collectively and act small individually to make a lasting difference.
